Hello!

We have some great news for our readers; you can now read selected stories by First Check on THE WEEK as well!

THE WEEK, published by the 137-year-old Malayala Manorama group, is India’s bestselling news magazine in English and is known for over 40 years of award-winning journalism. First Check will be providing exclusive fact-checked stories, debunking health-related misinformation and outlining the real-world consequences of such unfiltered information, and data driven features and investigations, for the Health section of THE WEEK, as part of the newly announced partnership between the magazine, and our parent company, DataLEADS.

This new collaboration not only expands the scope of the impactful journalism done by THE WEEK, with the data-driven insights and fact-checking expertise of DataLEADS and First Check; but also ensures that our readers get to read our quality content on multiple platforms.

Recent times, have once again shown the need for fact-checked, accurate information to help safeguard public health- be it a popular cricketer-turned-politician sharing how his wife’s stage-4 cancer was cured through diet and lifestyle changes, or the director of a premier education talking about cow urine being used to treat fevers and other ailments. Both of these claims did not hold up against closer scrutiny, but led to more widespread proliferation of similar false claims on social media.

First Check has been safeguarding public health against such dangerous misinformation, especially on social media, since 2019, as we understand the real-world costs of such false claims- patients could delay treatments, or rely on unscientific therapies, even in the face of life threatening diseases.

With our new partnership with THE WEEK, we hope such accurate information can reach more people, and in turn help save more lives.

Because, as always- Health Matters. Facts Matter.

And yes, I’m happy to hear from you!
