Apollo Hospitals has announced a new initiative called “Always Open. Always Here.” that will make outpatient services available on all seven days of the week, including Sundays.
The private hospital chain said its emergency, critical care and inpatient services have always run round the clock. What changes now is that outpatient consultations, diagnostic tests, preventive health checks, follow-up visits and scheduled procedures will also be offered on Sundays.
The hospital group said the move is aimed at people who find it difficult to visit a doctor on weekdays because of work and family commitments. Many patients end up delaying tests, consultations and health checks simply because they cannot find the time.
Apollo’s Health of the Nation 2026 Report, which draws on health screenings of over 2.5 million people across the hospital network, found that a large number of people are living with health conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes without knowing it. Nearly 26% of those screened were found to have high blood pressure and 23% had diabetes, despite showing no symptoms.
Speaking about the initiative, Apollo Hospitals Group Founder and Chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy said, “Apollo has believed that healthcare is not only about treating illness, but about protecting health and preventing disease.” He continued, “We have always been available for emergencies and critical care. We are now extending the same commitment to routine and preventive care across all seven days of the week.”
Dr Reddy also credited Apollo’s doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff for making the initiative possible, and said their commitment allows the hospital group to take this step for patients. He added, “If one timely consultation helps detect disease early or prevent a crisis, we would have changed a life. If we inspire millions to choose care before crisis, we would have changed the future.”
Apollo Hospitals Executive Vice Chairperson Dr Preetha Reddy said, “People should be able to seek medical care at a time that fits more into their lives.”
She noted, “For working professionals, caregivers and families balancing multiple responsibilities, having the option to consult a doctor, complete a health check or continue with follow up care, particularly on Sundays, can make a meaningful difference.”
Patients will now be able to access specialist consultations, health checks, diagnostic tests, follow-up visits and scheduled procedures on Sundays, depending on the schedule and service availability at individual hospitals. This means a working professional can get a health check done without taking leave, a family can bring an elderly relative for a planned test, and a patient waiting for a follow-up visit will not have to wait until Monday.
